Two-year to four-yearappliesFour-year to two-yearappliesFour-year to four-yearapplies
Mechanism
Advising centers close for a half day twice a month, first and third Fridays, for training. Closing is the point: development that has to happen between appointments does not happen.
Preconditions
Senior leadership willing to protect uninterrupted training time.
Owner, by role
Director of Academic Advising
Who can act
One institution alone
Effort
Small, 2 months to first visible effect
Outcome metric
Advisor attendance; accuracy of student academic audits
Failure modes
Rushed or poorly structured sessions can fail to address advisor concerns, reducing training impact.
Contra-indications
Closing during peak enrollment weeks can create student registration backlogs.
